Forest Project.

Forest Project is a music/sound work inspired and influenced by ‘uniqueness of place’. In this case a forest in Sligo in the North West of Ireland called Union Woods.
"My ambition was to make music and soundscapes for, and from, this wooded place; to use music/sound to express my thoughts and feelings about this place."
Forest Project involved two music/sound performances and an accompanying audio CD (release date TBC). The first performance took place on Saturday, 31 March 2007 at the Model Arts and Niland Gallery in Sligo, followed closely by an outdoor performance in Union Woods on Saturday, 12 May 2007. The performance in Union Woods involved installing speakers in the forest itself. Each stereo pair of speakers produced a specific tone/texture; exploiting the potential of music/sound to describe/map a physical space or environment.
"The performances and accompanying audio CD will feature music, soundscapes, and found sound compositions inspired by this unique environment (Union Woods); comprising a sonic diary of my time spent in, and experience of, this wooded place. "
